Silva Bay View BnB is ideally situated for travellers to Gabriola from Vancouver International Airport(YVR) who are using the float plane to arrive. By car it’s a 15 minute drive on North Road from the Nanaimo – Gabriola Island Ferry Terminal.

Nestled in a heritage orchard of apple, plum and pear trees the B and B room looks out at Silva Bay on the Salish Sea. Enjoy your charming, spacious room with a king size bed, fold out sofa and private 4 pc bath.
Accessed by your own private walkway and entrance, you create the experience you want. Other included amenities are quality linens, fridge, breakfast, coffee maker/ hot water for tea, WiFi and a Smart TV. Parking is available for 2 cars and dry bicycle storage if required. The suite is accessed via an exterior staircase and is not wheelchair accessible.

There are over 20 sailing times a day from Nanaimo Harbour to Descanso Bay on Gabriola Island. See the schedule here. The route is first-come first-served and takes 20 minutes to get across. The last ferry leaves Gabriola Island at 10:30pm.
Gabriola History
Known as Petroglyph Island, a nickname acquired because of its wealth of ancient native stone carvings, Gabriola Island is one of the enchanting Gulf Islands of British Columbia.
The island’s name is derived from Punta de Gaviota (Cape Seagull), the name given by the Spanish to the southeastern part of the island in 1791. This name was later corrupted to Gaviola and later to Gabriola. Other island names dating back to Spanish exploration of the Strait of Georgia include Descanso Bay and Malaspina Galleries.
A pleasant rural setting of forested parks and quiet beaches, Gabriola’s residents enjoy a mild temperate climate, a relaxed lifestyle and a strong sense of community. Picturesque roads lead to sensational ocean views, and the sandstone shoreline can be walked almost indefinitely. The population is concentrated on the north and south ends of the island, with a friendly rivalry enjoyed between north and south islanders.

Gabriola is an Island of 4,500 residents that can swell to 8,000 in the summer. Don’t be disappointed when looking for Gabriola Island accommodation by waiting too long to book. Silva Bay View will take a deposit to reserve your dates. Even when they are months away. To confirm you reservation we require full payment in advance.
If booking through an online site such as Airbnb or Booking.com is your preference you can do that also. We try to keep our website price about the same before you pay the Airbnb commission.

Recently after being frustrated with Google Maps not properly listing Gabriola Bed and Breakfast we adjusted the name to be Silva Bay View BnBor Silva Bay View Bed and Breakfast. Nothing has changed other wise. Same great view from the kingside bed. A large room with beautiful Vancouver Island Fir hardwood floors. Many amenities including wifi, smart TV , Breakfast, fridge, dry bike storage and fold out twin couch. Quality linens, your own private 4 pc bath and private entrance with a coded lock. If you choose, you do not need to meet your hosts. A continental breakfast of baked goods, quiche, fruit, granola, instant porridge, yogurt, coffee/tea is placed in the room and fridge
This time of year(fall) is the most beautiful and pleasant time to be on Gabriola. Sunny days, gorgeous sunrises, leaves turning colour and very few tourists.

Gabriola accommodation is often in short supply. To alleviate this situation and to provide a retirement sideline we opened a bed and breakfast. Silva Bay View BnB is situated in completely private section of our home. It features a king bed, private 4 pc bath, wifi, TV, continental breakfast and a great view of Silva Bay. Right from bed you can watch the ocean tides, sunrises or eagles and ravens playing on the wind as storms blow in.
