After spending 15 years on Gabriola Island my wife and I have started calling this place Fantasy Island. Fantasy Island Bed and Breakfast could have been the name for our B & B but unfortunately that would confuse it with Fantasy Island the 1978 TV show. So Gabriola Bed and Breakfast took the prize.

What makes Gabriola Island Fantasy Island?

Situated a short twenty minute ferry ride from Nanaimo, or a twenty minute plane ride from Vancouver it is easy to get here. Yet, that short trip over separates you from the hustle and bustle. A quiet place of rural beauty and forrest awaits. Great beaches with oceanside walks. Numerous hiking and walking trails. Many parks to explore.

Today I’ll talk about Drumbeg Provincial Park. One of three provincial parks on Gabriola Island, Drumbeg is a favourite spot for diving, hiking, nature viewing and picnicking. Overlooking scenic Gabriola Passage on the east end of the Island, Drumbeg offers excellent views of the Strait of Georgia and the Coast Mountains on the Mainland. The park contains a kilometre long sand and pebble beach with striking sandstone and conglomerate rock formations, which can be seen at low tide.

Natural Beauty

Did you know Drumbeg Park protects endangered Garry oak ecosystems. And undeveloped Douglas fir forest landscapes and a diverse marine zone. Species such as Bald eagles, Great Blue herons, harbour seals and American oystercatchers can be spotted here, along with a number of intertidal creatures. Underwater enthusiasts can dive from the shores of the park. Yes you can head out to Rogers reef by boat. Of course, you can still stay out of the strong currents that run through Gabriola Passage.

Gabriola Bed and Breakfasts Welcomes You.  A large 20 foot by 12 foot recently renovated room that looks out to Silva Bay.  A charming room with a lovely views of the bay and soaring birds. Blackout curtains, new fir floor, foldout sitting couch and king size bed make this B and B a pleasure to stay at. We also have TV, WiFi, private bathroom and a small fridge in the room for drinks, leftovers and breakfast items.

Oh the View at Gabriola Bed And Breakfast

The view is quiet special as it not only looks directly out over Silva Bay but also looks across Law Point and Royal Vancouver Yacht Club on Tugboat Island. One could sit all day watching the tide go in and out. And when the wind blows be mesmerized by the ravens playing and riding the wind. The sunrises in fall through spring can be absolutely draw dropping. No filters needed to be spectacular. Of course the moon rises are incredible as well. Another highlight in the off season storm watching at Gabriola Bed and Breakfast as the pineapple expresses blow in from the south east.

Payment is through PAYPAL by using your email. (No GST Tax if booked directly through us. ) I will send a PayPal invoice which you can pay by credit card to secure your reservation.

You can also reserve through Air B and B ( this method will add tax and an AirBnB fee.

Location

Gabriola Island is one of the Gulf Islands in the Strait of Georgia in British Columbia (BC), Canada. It is about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, to which it is linked by a 20-minute ferry service. It has a land area of about 57.6 square kilometres (22.2 sq mi) and a resident population of 4,500.[1]

Activities at GabriolaBnB

Gabriola has public beaches and forests, shopping centres, restaurants, a library, an elementary school and a museum. It is known as the Isle of the Arts due to its high percentage of working artists, and its many cultural events include annual festivals related to art, poetry, gardens, music, boating and fishing. The Gabriola Arts Council produces three large annual events: the Isle of the Arts Festival (April), Cultivate Arts Festival (Summer) and Thanksgiving Studio Tour (October).
